Born and raised in Michigan, Chris Calleja spent his high school years playing sports, traveling , and learning carpentry. It wasn't until being given a guitar as a gift one year, that he started thinking about writing songs. After a few years of self-producing his own demos in a little home studio, Chris moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music from a much more serious approach. After getting settled in town, Chris spent a few years fronting various versions of an original band. The group played around town, winning fans and forging a few good relationships inside the music community. In early 2008, the members decided to pursue music outside of the band, and go their separate ways.

September 2009 welcomed Chris's first independent solo release titled 'life itself'. After a couple of years spent supporting the record, and as his musical tastes evolved, Chris began writing for what would become 'between the devil and the deep blue sea'..

This, Chris's second independent record and first full-length release, is a collection of the many different styles of music that Chris grew up listening to.
